A friend who read this post a while back got me a subscription to Family Fun! Wooo-whooo!

I am a little too excited about this magazine. My excitement level makes me feel a wee bit Pollyanna-ish. But I'm just so darn excited. "Oooo! Look at these fun crafts! Look at these great snacks! Fun recipes! Yippee!" See what I mean. It's kinda gross.

Today the kids made the activity in the picture above, and they have proven worth every penny of the $3 bucks I spent at Dollar Tree on the sponges. (Where would I be without that store? I could hardly parent without it.)

We cut them, stacked them, and tied them in the middle with yarn.

Any guesses about which child refused to use any color but pink?

I'm betting you guessed correctly.

My handsome almost second grader completed this little project with
virtually no help from mom.

I forget to tell Dylan the point is to throw it...not hold onto it and slam it into someone's head.

We had to set some "you must be at least 3 feet away" ground rules.

Lauryn in the crosshairs, completely oblivious. This did not end well.
