Hijacking the Grocery Cart
Wednesday, September 17, 2008

When the boys were Lauryn's age, they would occasionally sneak things into the grocery basket. I would get to the checkout and discover they had thrown in some kind of sugary cereal...maybe some kool-aid....a box of Batman fruit snacks perhaps.

Today I took Lauryn shopping, and she continued the tradition her brothers started. When I was unloading my groceries at the check-out I found Lauryn had thrown in some extra items:

A huge can of yams and a large carton of small curd cottage cheese.

I handed them to the cashier and said, "I'm sorry, I don't need these. My daughter must have put them in the basket."

She looked at me with a raised eyebrow as if to say, "Seriously? Yams and Cottage Cheese?"

My thoughts exactly!

Blogger Catrina had this to say:

I thought of you (and this post) yesterday when I took Avery to the store for just a couple of things and ended up with milk, pasta, Tylenol, and...about 5 bottles of liquid herbs/vitamins that I couldn't even pronounce, much less know how to use. :-)
