Is there any more annoying sound than a fly buzzing around your head? SO IRRITATING.
We are having a serious fly issue. We even resorted to hanging those nasty sticky fly strips on the back porch, but they have not made a dent in our burgeoning fly population.
In the battle with the buzzing flies (two of which keep landing on my laptop screen as I type this!), I have found I am a terrible shot with the fly swatter.
For every 10 swats I take I'm lucky to hit one fly. ALSO IRRITATING.
I may need to invest in one of these slightly scary swatters (weapons?).
Off to practice my swatting skills...
When we were in Charleston, SC this summer, we saw all of these restaraunts with bottles of clear liquid hanging over the doorways from a piece of twin. We were curious so we asked what was up with that? Answer: it's just a bottle of water...apparently flies see there reflection or some such craziness (I guess their eyes are crazy anyway) and it "deters" them. That is the #1 way of combating a fly problem in their restaurants. Maybe it would work for you!!
The water does work! We put water in a zip lock bag and hang it outside the doors. We live next to the horse barn at camp and always have flies! I really dislike them and heard of this trick and it really works! Good luck:)
Been there done that. Kent and I uesd to have fly swatting contests, to see who could kill the most flies. I won't tell you how high we counted. :) Let's just say that farm animals near by with no AC in the house, doesn't provide a fly-less enviroment!!
on another note - How is the recipe thing going?? I have been dying to know if it has helped and if the meals were any good.
The electric flyswatters are awesome..good entertainment too. Purchase two of them and you and Jonathan can have flyswatting competitions. The plastic bags of water do work according to the restauranteurs in this area. Also, I've heard strips of dryer sheets work. Good Luck!
