Book on the Loose
Monday, June 4, 2007

I am in the middle of re-reading a book, and it has completely disappeared. I had it last it's nowhere to be found. I have cleaned out the toy baskets and pulled things out from under the beds in an effort to find the book. (Come to think of it, maybe Jonathan hid it to increase my domestic productivity.)

When I had exhausted my efforts, I then bribed the boys to help me, by telling them I would give them a popsicle if they would help me find my book. (Is that normal parental behavior?) After looking for about five minutes, Dylan came and said:

"Mommy, your book isn't anywhere in this house. I guess it just got some legs and it's walking down our street." Then he laughed hysterically at his own joke before asking for his popsicle.

edit: After I posted this, Jonathan said, "If I wanted to increase your productivity, I'd hide the laptop." I may have inadvertently given him an idea...if there are no postings for a while, you'll know what happened.

I think perhaps your book has eloped with one of mine. I'm gonna owe the Pasadena library a small fortune before I find it!

On, second thought, I don't think "Persuasion" would run off with "Going to War in Ancient Greece." She's much too good for the likes of him.

The joke in my family is "try the pop-tart box". I once lost a $20 bill and one the kids found it in the pop-tart box. I feel your pain. Let us know where you finally find the book. As for food bribery, it's one of those things the experts say we shouldn't do but those of us in the trenches swear by.

Found it! It was in the bottom of a large wicker basket I keep all of Lauryn's baby dolls in.

The one and only book that I have totally lost in my long life was one from my new daughter-in-law.....actually it was her mom's book!!! Very upsetting AND it never showed up! So glad that you found yours!
